Counterfeit medicines are such a problem across the country today. Which no one pays attention to. The general public, the government, and no one in the drug regulatory agencies have any problem with the presence of counterfeit medicines in the market. The irony is that even the patient himself does not know whether he is taking fake or genuine medicine. No safety instructions have been decided yet regarding how the patient should identify the medicine. But it was not implemented.
No incident of anyone’s death due to fake medicine has come to light yet. Both the patient and the doctor start considering the disease as serious rather than considering the genuine fake medicine. There are counterfeit medicines for cancer, TB, diabetes and heart diseases in the market. According to a report, one out of every ten medicines in the market is fake or of low quality.
Lower level i.e. the quantity of medicine has to be reduced from the prescribed standards. Many patients do not notice much difference in the effect of consuming fake medicines. Because more than half of the patients do not have the disease, it just gets worse.
These diseases, as defined by global health standards, do not necessarily affect everyone.
But our medical science i.e. India’s medical science follows the research and reports of the West. Due to which placebo effect also works due to fake medicine.

In fact, the Western medical medicine system, which is completely based on science, is also based on beliefs like Indian Ayurveda. Which is pretended scientifically. Whereas this happens only on the basis of beliefs. Their being scientific or factual and being pretentious is like a commercial global conspiracy.
On March 2 this year, a counterfeit medicines trader was arrested in Varanasi. Under which many famous brand medicines were seized which were manufactured from Baddi in Himachal. And medicines worth about Rs 7 crore were seized. Which were to be consumed in rural and small towns of West Bengal and Bihar.
On 25 April 2023, UPSTF, while taking action against the drug syndicate of Varanasi, seized a consignment of fake life saving medicines worth Rs 25 lakh and arrested many people.
On May 13, Nainital Hai Court of Uttarakhand had advocated making a law to give life imprisonment for manufacturing fake medicines and fake medicine business. Till now nothing has happened.
28 May Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh) Police and Drug Department seized fake medicines worth Rs 50 lakh.
On June 20, 2023, Health Minister Shri Mansukh Mandaviya gave show cause notices to 71 drug manufacturers in the case of cough syrup poisoning of children in Gambia and Uzbekistan and recommended closure of 18. But till now no meaningful steps have been taken and it has not been informed on public platforms.
9 July 2023 A factory manufacturing counterfeit medicines in Agra was busted by the police. Where a factory manufacturing fake medicines was caught for several months under the guise of a coaching institute and wedding procession. According to police sources, till now these people have spent fake medicines worth Rs 300 crore in the market.
On August 26, 2022, the police from Dehradun (Uttarakhand) also busted a gang manufacturing and selling fake medicines and arrested a business of fake medicines worth Rs 40 crore.
counterfeit medicines are being sold in large quantities by quacks and shops in small towns and villages. Many drug manufacturers themselves are involved in the trade of fake drugs. People close to the government are also directly or indirectly involved in this business. Due to which proceedings have been initiated but the criminals have not been punished or have been released on bail after mere nominal punishment.
However, after every arrest, there are many announcements and talks of making laws by the central and different state governments and for a day or two, one can read news in the inner pages of newspapers that a certain government has banned fake medicine.
To prevent this, security measures have been taken or laws have been made to allow doctors to prescribe generic medicines, or rules have been made which grab headlines among the public for a day or two but nothing happens on the ground. The people of India have lived only on expectations. And will continue to live. But there has been no change in any mechanism or system.
