Tetra Pak may soon overtake plastic as the new name for pollution of the future
Packing of liquor in tetra pack made transportation of liquor easier.
UP police caught more than 3 thousand packs of tetra packed liquor
Tetra Pack has become a very versatile packaging system for packing liquids today.
After milk, curd and fruit juices, its biggest market has now become liquor. The tetra pack is made of a single layer consisting of 6 layers of different materials. In which apart from wood, there are layers of plastic and aluminum. Which is a great packing for the protection of any liquid substance. Due to which the shelf life of liquid food items can be doubled. But the only drawback of tetra packs is that it cannot be recycled like plastic. That is, it cannot be used again.
You can find alternative solutions from its waste. But it cannot be recycled after one time use. The basic reason is that it has 6 layers made of composite material. Which cannot be separated from the current technology. And tetra packs are going to be a more serious problem for this earth in future than plastic.
Packing wine in a tetra pack does not change the quality of wine as long as the wine does not come in direct contact with the aluminum layer of the tetra pack. But technology cannot be trusted either. Human error can happen anytime and alcohol can be fatal anytime.
Recently, a unique case has come to light from Uttar Pradesh’s Auraiya, where 3,115 tetra packs of liquor were smuggled and sold inside pipes by the police. Although plastic bottles or bags can also be smuggled, carrying Tetra Pack by stuffing in this way, the layers of Tetra Pack can crack and the aluminum layer can come in contact with alcohol. Due to which any serious incident can happen anytime. However, the Auraiya police have saved hundreds of lives by confiscating this liquor. Even before this, tetra pack liquor was mainly involved in the recent spurious liquor case in Bihar.
Even before this, the news of deadly fungus in buttermilk, fruit juice, etc. regarding tetra packs has been published in newspapers and has gone viral on the internet. Not only in India, but in other countries also such complaints have been happening regarding tetra packs. Tetra Pak is going to overtake plastic very soon in terms of pollution. Unlike plastic, there is no practical recycling of tetra packs, soon this tetra pack is going to be a worldwide problem. If it is not controlled or restricted.

Fully agree that the packaging used in TetraPak is most uneco friendly. The only place it could be used is in laying of roads, as an additive to existing mix after chopping it into fine pieces.
The food manufacturers are to be blamed. But firstly policy makers who allow and encourage the use of such packaging material.
