On whom are you trusting to eat outside food?
Every year the cases of food poisoning due to eating outside food are increasing.
These days, the trend of eating outside food at home has increased a lot. Food delivery apps like Swiggy, Zomato and booking through mobile are allowing food from nearby hotel to reach your home directly.
But food quality and food safety are not taken care of as much as they should be. In the beginning of the year itself, one after another cases of food poisoning due to bitter gourd were reported in which two girls died. One died after eating outside food ordered from the app.
19 year old girl Anushree Parvati died in the first week of the year. The victim died after battling for life for a week.
68 people fell ill after eating at a single hotel in Ernakulam, Kerala.
In the month of October 2022, 3 children died in Tiruppur (Tamil Nadu) after eating food delivered at home, while others were admitted to the hospital in critical condition.
In June this year, two children died after eating chowmein in Sonipat (Haryana).
Every year in India, 20 lakh people die directly and indirectly due to food poisoning caused by eating outside food. And almost three times this number of people fall ill.
Thousands of people are affected due to negligence and indifference and laxity policy of local food safety department employees. We Indians too are now following the path of western countries in eating outside food. Eating in hotels and restaurants has become the new normal. But the biggest problem with hotel and restaurant food is the mentality of not allowing ourselves to lose money by mixing stale food with fresh food.
Which cannot be avoided in any way. The second problem is to keep ready or semi-cooked food ready to prepare food quickly so that as soon as a customer or an order is received, it has to be completed as soon as possible. But infection can occur in pre-prepared food at any time.
On the other hand, synthetic food ingredients are used extensively to make food tasty. And for this, the chefs of these hotels do not have any official training. Only in big and five star hotels does the chef or head chef hold a certified degree.
Even today, in dhabas and restaurants etc., new types of food ingredients are added to the food based on old experience. No care is taken of the quantity and correct quantity of food ingredients. Taste is everything. Words like quality, cleanliness, how beneficial for health are not in the kitchen dictionary of hotels and restaurants .
To pay attention to the quality and safety of outside food and food, training schemes like FoSTac are also provided by FSSAI to the hotel owners and so-called chefs or hoteliers. Couldn’t change the cook’s attitude. Hotel food ration material i.e. flour, spices and fresh vegetables are taken in bulk. These materials are often kept in hotel stores where rats, cockroaches and fungi etc. are seen.
Due to which raw logistics material can get infected at any time. And in case of food contamination in any food, the customer remains unaware. A customer eating out may discover food poisoning hours later. And the victim, considering it to be a condition of gas or upset stomach, tries home remedies or sometimes ignores it, which gradually proves to be terrible and fatal.
A person suffering from food poisoning is in a state of boiling a frog in water. As soon as the water becomes capable of tolerating water, the frog continues to tolerate it. But when the temperature of the water goes beyond its limits, it becomes so exhausted that it is unable to come out of the water and dies.
In India too, the trend of eating outside in hotels or restaurants or ordering food at home is in full swing. In such a situation, if any unusual situation occurs after eating, immediately consult a doctor.
If the condition does not improve with home remedies, do not wait for it to worsen. Because earlier there used to be only stale food in the food, but in today’s era, synthetic food ingredients are being used extensively.
Which cannot be cured by home remedies. And carelessness or carelessness can be fatal or life-long. A special situation may arise for this. Small children should be avoided to feed outside food.
Children should not be fed outside food, especially till the age of 2-8 years. Today everyone is living a life of hustle and show. Nevertheless, if the circumstances are right, then only food made from local and traditional dishes should be eaten at home. Eating outside may be a compulsion. Don’t make it fashionable.
